This is a very interesting article. It cleared up some of my own assumptions. I had no idea Mardi Gras was a weeklong event and was surprised to hear that it begins on the day 6th because of the Wiseman's visit to new born Jesus. I think my Jaw literally dropped when i read that. I can't speak for everyone but from my own experience, any event that involves drinking and prizes, people are going to get wild and out of control. At least I know now that this isn't going on all of the time during this celebration.
